Turkey’s most comprehensive research agenda in 2011 which is related with the university students answers those questions: “ why young people are unhappy? What are their problems? How do they perceive the future of Turkey? Why do they avoid from politics? How do they perceive democracy? The Project called “I am in” was carried out by Center for Alternative Policies in the context of “participation” between 05-11 December 2010. In this project 61 person, elected from 820 application, was taken place in an enriched study with participation, democracy, active citizenship during a week. Young people offered solutions about youth and their problems by working on issue in itself. Furthermore, various ideas were developed to increase the participation of youth to political and social processes. Three main points have been gathered together and converted to a declaration.
This declaration was presented by young people to the all political parties in the parliament during the visit to parliament on the last day of the Project. Undoubtedly, this Project will provide a great benefit to the decision-makers for composing the Turkey’s youth policy. The participants from 35 different universities as a represent of university clubs from different regions of Turkey had a chance to convey their questions and problems to the circle of acquaintance of the business, sports and television world as well as to the representatives of the ruling and oppositon parties. As a result of a survey which had been applied at the begining of the application process displays important outcomes about university students as well as the outcomes arised during the Project.
