Center for Alternative Policies(CAP), is an non governmental organization that aims to produce the democratic solutions and political alternatives that Turkey needs. It was established in 2004 with the mission to produce high – level policy and to serve these produced policies to the practitioners. It has undersigned many studies that have given directions to Country policies since it was established. The Chairman of the Board is Dr. Mahmut KOÇAK, Afyonkarahisar 22. Period Deputy, Foreign Affairs Committee Member. Parliamentarians of ruling and opposite parties, academics, experts, businessman and civil society leaders have act as founding members. Besides producing policies, Center for Alternative Policies has also implemented policies within the bound of the policies it has produced. Under the sponsorship of important institutions such as the parliament and Türkiye İş Bankası (Turkey Business Bank), in 2003, 2004 and 2005 around 2000 children in were circumcised each year in Afghanistan. T-shirts, hats, notebooks and pencils were gifted during these organizations, as well as drug assistance to people that were victims of terror and the health screening studies were perhaps most comprehensive civil organization performance that was realized in the last quarter. Because of these studies the founder President of CAP, Dr. Mahmut KOÇAK, has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by the T.B.M.M. (Turkish Grand National Assembly) 2006 period President. CAP has undersigned many periodical and indefinite term publications since it was established. Some of them are: The survey named “''European Union, Turkey and Islam'' that was prepared by 'The Netherlands Scientific Council for Government Policy during the EU integration process, the Diplomatic Newsbridge magazine that is monthly issued, and the work named “Üttüm, I do not play” that was prepared by Dr. Mahmut KOÇAK, addressing the problem of internal party democracy in Turkey. Many activities were organized at our center during these studies. A lot of listeners from different segments of the society have been brought together for panels, seminars and conferences in which national and international speakers took place. Those following committed a speech at our center on following issues: Further to the names mentioned above following conferences were held in following issues; CAP, has committed a 3 day study in Istanbul under the initiative of the Turkey Youth Council. Youth Commission members of 81 provincial universities were brought together in this meeting focusing on youth problems, trying to find solutions for youth issues together with important participants. CAP is also found in public opinion research. First, the questionnaire “ Assessment of University Students to the EU Perception “ was committed with the participation of 1700 students from different universities. The results were later on shared with the public. Vedat Güler; health sector; Özer Venice; construction sector, Alemdar Gamze advertising and consulting services, Serdar Yüce; communications and defense industry who share the managing task of the association together with Mr. Mahmut KOÇAK, do also own their own businesses. This diversity also reflects the studies of the association which therefore enables success in much type of works. |
